What is the AI Agent in Side Copilot?
The AI Agent in Side Copilot designed to help you manage your browser and online tasks through natural language commands.
It goes beyond simple AI chat, the Agent can understand what you want to do and take real actions inside your browser.
What the AI Agent Can Do
The AI Agent can:
- Manage tabs automatically, open, close, move, group or restore them.
- Search your browsing history, find pages or documents you visited earlier.
- Organize windows, open batch of tabs, resize or switch between them.
- Execute quick commands, perform routine actions like "close all YouTube tabs" or "reopen the Figma project."
AI Agent for Research Tasks
The Agent is also designed to assist with research and information gathering, making it especially useful for students, analysts, and professionals. It can:
- Summarize web content, get concise takeaways from long articles or documents.
- Find related sources, locate similar pages or references to deepen your research.
- Extract key insights, identify key points, data, or arguments from articles.
- Organize research materials, save and categorize sources for future access.
With the AI Agent, you no longer have to juggle tabs or manually search for content. It understands your intent and helps you stay organized, focused, and efficient, directly within your existing browser.
How to Enable Agent Mode?
- Open the Side Space extension.
- Click the AI Chat button in the top-right corner to open Side Copilot.
- In the Side Copilot window, use the toggle button in the bottom-left corner to switch between Chat Mode and Agent Mode.
Once enabled, you can let the AI Agent take action directly in your browser.
Access Requirements
⚠️ Agent Mode is available to paid users only.
- If you purchased the Primary version, you'll need to set your own API key by following this tutorial.
- If you purchased the Credit version, simply activate your license, and you'll be able to use Agent Mode immediately.

Tools Configuration
To perform the tasks mentioned above, the AI Agent uses a set of specialized tools.
Users can configure which tools to enable based on their preferences.
Available Tools:
- Tab Tools: Manage, close, and organize tabs intelligently.
- Tab Group Tools: Automatically group related tabs for better organization.
- Window Tools: Control, merge, or separate browser windows efficiently.
- History Tools: Search, analyze and summarize your browsing history for smarter insights.
- Session Tools: Restore Closed Tabs and Windows.
- Page Interaction Tools: Help AI perform scrolling, searching, and quick navigation actions. Make navigating and interacting with the web effortless.
Note:
The History Tools and Session Tools are disabled by default.
If you want to use Side Copilot for History Analysis Session Restore, you'll need to manually enable them in settings.
Once enabled, you grant Side Copilot permission to read your browsing history and sessions, this is required for the AI Agent to provide accurate summaries and suggestions or restore tabs and windows.
