Sign up for an account
First, visit the OpenRouter↗ website and create an account. Click the Sign in button in the top right corner and then Sign up to create your account.
Navigate to the API Keys Section
Once signed in, go to API Keys↗ section.
Generate New API Key
Click the Create Key button and give it a descriptive name, and optionally, a credit limit.
Note that you won't be able to view the key again once you leave this page, so make sure to save it somewhere safe.
It's important to remember that your API key is like a password, so treat it as confidential information. Only you should know it and if it falls into the wrong hands, others may be able to use it to access OpenRouter services using your account.
Enter your API key into Side Space Copilot Setting
Go to Settings, Integrations tab, then select OpenRouter.
BYOK in OpenRouter
OpenRouter supports both OpenRouter credits and the option to bring your own provider keys (BYOK).
When you use OpenRouter credits, your rate limits for each provider are managed by OpenRouter.
