What Are Customized Shortcuts?

Customized Shortcuts let you save your frequently used instructions or prompts as reusable commands inside Side Copilot.

Instead of retyping the same message every time, you can trigger a saved shortcut instantly, streamlining your workflow and keeping your focus on what matters.

For example, you can create shortcuts like:

🧠 "Summarize this page" – quickly generate a concise overview of your current tab.

🧹 "Close inactive tabs" – tidy up your workspace in one click.

🔍 "Find similar articles" – let Side Copilot research related content automatically.

How to Add Customized Shortcuts in Side Copilot

There are three easy ways to create customized shortcuts:

1. From the Configuration Page

Open Side Space → Settings → Shortcuts Templates.

You'll see a list of official pre-built shortcut templates.

You can copy and modify a template, or
Click "Add New Shortcut" to create one from scratch.

In the creation dialog, fill in:

Shortcut Name – how it will appear in your list.
Instructions – the prompt or command the AI should perform.
(Optional) Under Advanced, select an icon for easier recognition in your sidebar.

2. From the Chat Input (Slash Command)

While chatting with Side Copilot, type "/" (slash) in the message box.

You'll see a list of all existing shortcuts.

At the bottom of that list, click "Add New Shortcut" to create one directly from the chat window — perfect for when you come up with a new idea mid-conversation.

3. From Chat History

You can also turn past conversations into shortcuts:

In your chat record, find a message or command you often reuse.
Click "Add to Shortcuts."
Give it a name, and that's it!

Now you can reuse it anytime without retyping the full instruction.

How to Use Shortcuts

Once you've created shortcuts, there are 2 ways to use them:

Type "/" in the chat input to quickly access and trigger any saved shortcut.
Click the Shortcut in the Shortcuts Templates settings page, choose a shortcut from My Shortcuts and then click execute shortcut.

When triggered, the shortcut will instantly run your saved prompt.

You can also edit, hide or delete shortcuts anytime from the Shortcuts Templates settings page.

All Shortcuts created in My Shortcuts will be listed in the quick list. If you don't want a shortcut appear in your quick shortcuts list, just click the hide button on the top right of the shortcut that you want to hide.
